Boy, Everywhere

Sami’s ordinary life in Damascus includes family, a best friend, video games, and hopes of joining a football team. After a bombing at a nearby mall affects his mother and younger sister, his parents decide the family must leave Syria. Their secret preparations lead to an uncertain route toward asylum in England, including a dangerous boat crossing to Greece. There, Sami struggles with his sister’s silence, separation from friends and family, tension in his sponsor’s home, and his wish to return to Damascus.
