Be Real, Macy Weaver

Macy Weaver is a lonely Black sixth grader coping with a move to a new hometown and school after a recent friendship breakup. Her mother returns to college three states away, while Macy’s father is often at work. Wanting a fresh start and a best friend, Macy turns to lies, putting her true self at risk. Her private interest in fashion design eventually leads her to collaborate with a new friend. Black-and-white spot art appears throughout the book.
