¡Ay, Mija!

Sixteen-year-old Christine makes a first trip alone to Mexico, where they stay with grandparents and an aunt. They initially find it difficult to communicate with relatives because they do not yet share a language. As Christine visits places from their mother’s earlier life, including her school and the café connected to her parents’ first date, they become increasingly aware of differences between generations in the family.
