In simple, easy-to-understand language it introduces young children to the Arctic and Antarctic biomes — from the frozen deserts of Antarctica to the ice floes of the Arctic Ocean — describing what kinds of animals and plants live there, how they have adapted to life in this environment, and why these regions are important. John Sill's full-color illustrations depict the landscapes and species of both polar regions, and a glossary and afterword provide more detail for further study. The title was named to the National Science Teachers Association's 2016 list of Outstanding Science Trade Books for Students K–12. Peachtree published a 48-page hardcover in 2015 and this paperback edition on November 2, 2021.
