A Sky of Paper Stars

Yuna longs to feel included by her middle-school friends, wishing for sleepovers, a smartphone, summer camp, and lunches she considers more typically American. Her frustration with her mother, Umma, leads her to recall a legend from her grandmother, Halmoni. A wish goes awry, overturning Yuna’s world and leaving her to try to undo it. The graphic novel connects Yuna’s desire to belong with family conflict and a grandmother’s story.
