Hee Jun moves with his family from Korea to West Virginia and finds the new place difficult to navigate. He notices that he looks different from his classmates and cannot understand his teacher, even when she speaks slowly and loudly. At night, the sky feels smaller and darker to him. Gradually, Hee Jun begins learning English words and making friends on the playground. His family works to adjust to an unfamiliar world while holding on to its cultural identity.
