A Boy Named Queen

When Queen joins Evelyn’s fifth-grade class, many students are uncertain about the new boy with long hair, colorful clothes, and an unusual name. Evelyn first connects with him by showing him how to make a basketball bank shot, and they become friends. Queen handles unkind comments by imagining a protective turquoise force field. As Evelyn gets to know Queen and his artistic, relaxed family, she learns why he chose his name as a young child and sees that their family differs from her own while sharing the same love.
