A Boy Called Bat

Bixby Alexander Tam, known as Bat, is on the autism spectrum and lives with a mother who works as a veterinarian. When she brings home a stray baby skunk for rehabilitation before it goes to a wild-animal shelter, Bat immediately feels attached to the kit. He wants the skunk to become a permanent pet and has one month to persuade his mother that he can provide the needed care. The story follows Bat’s connection with the animal and his effort to keep it.
