With Just One Wing

Coop is an adopted Black boy who feels awkward about not sharing his beloved parents’ musical ability. He also wonders why his birth mother did not keep him. After falling from a tree while trying to look into a mockingbird nest, he spends the summer at home with a broken arm. During that difficult summer, Coop rescues a maimed baby mockingbird and must face giving it up. His connection with the bird brings questions of love and belonging to the surface.
