Wishbone

Pilar is fifteen, and her mother begins watching her diet more closely after Pilar returns from school crying. Pilar herself thinks she might like to lose weight. The novel moves between her experience and that of her Mexican American great-aunt, whose life unfolds forty-five years earlier. Both confront misogyny and fat-shaming.
