When Sally O’Malley Discovered the Sea

In the summer of 1894, orphan Sally O’Malley leaves her job at a mineral-spring hotel in central Oregon and heads west toward the sea. She travels alone at first, meeting a dangerous bobcat on her first day. Sally believes she has no need for anyone, but along the way she encounters a woman called Major, an old donkey, a dog, and a child. Her journey also challenges her ability to trust other people.
