WHEN I WAKE UP

A child wakes before their parents and wonders how to fill the time before seven o’clock. Making breakfast, building a city, riding a scooter, and digging in the garden each open a different imagined path. Seth Fishman’s picture book presents these possibilities alongside one another, while Jessixa Bagley uses a separate color for each choice. Readers can follow all four paths across the pages or trace one color through the story, which ends with the child curling up between their parents.
