We Are Wolves

Katrina Nannestad

Near the end of World War II, Russian soldiers enter East Prussia and the Wolf family leaves its village. After their father is reported missing, Liesl, Otto, and toddler Mia become separated from their mother during an attack. The siblings seek shelter, are taken to a Russian camp, and work for food before fleeing together. They scavenge while facing hunger and eventually travel toward Lithuania, becoming part of the German children known as Wolfskinder.
