Very Bad at Math

Eighth grader Verity “Very” Nelson is student body president, a debate-club standout, and first-chair clarinetist, but math remains difficult despite her effort. Fearing that poor grades could endanger her presidency and campaign promises, she enters a remedial class. A teacher helps Verity learn that she has dyscalculia, a learning disability involving numbers. She works to raise her grade while maintaining friendships and deciding what to share about her diagnosis.
