Their circumstances differ widely: some families have lived in the country for generations, while others include undocumented parents or young people. Immigration status is important in some stories but not all, and family runs throughout the collection. Individual stories include a girl spending a surprising day at her father’s burrito truck and two sisters working together on the older sister’s immigration status.
