During an Autumn Equinox festival, villagers send lanterns down a river, believing they travel to the Milky Way. Ben and his friends agree to follow the lanterns by bicycle to learn where they really go, but only Ben and Nathaniel continue. Crossing a bridge, they enter a magical parallel world and meet a talking fisherbear searching for the lights. After becoming separated and lost, they find a telephone linked to Madam Majestic, who offers to draw them a map.
