Thirteen Doorways: Wolves behind Them All

Set in 1941, this novel brings together two young women, one living and one dead, during World War II. Frankie and her sister live in a Chicago orphanage after their mother’s death and their father’s departure. The nuns running the institution subject the girls to cruelty.
