They Saved the Stallions (World War II Close Up series)

In the final months of World War II, bombing reaches Vienna, Austria, where the Lipizzaner stallions of the Spanish Riding School are in danger. Nero and the other horses are frightened as glass shatters around them. The school's director, horseman Alois Podhajsky, works to keep them safe but cannot do so alone. This account chronicles efforts to protect the horses and includes archival photographs and extensive back matter.
