The Peach Thief

In 1850s England, thirteen-year-old workhouse orphan Scilla Brown climbs an earl’s garden wall to steal a peach. The head gardener catches her but mistakes her for a boy and offers her work to repay the debt. The job gives Scilla food and a bed, as well as lessons in growing plants. Yet keeping her identity hidden becomes increasingly difficult, and her loyalties are divided as she tries to hold on to this chance at a home.
