The One & Only Googoosh

This book follows Googoosh, a celebrated Iranian singer whose performing began in childhood. After the Iranian Revolution in 1979, she is forced to stop performing. A young fan in Iran discovers her music and the hope it carries despite that prohibition. Told in the second person, the story brings together a musician’s history, the limits placed on artistic expression, and a child’s connection to a singer’s work.
