In thirteenth-century France, Jeanne, William, and Jacob are each fleeing danger when their paths meet at an inn. Jeanne has visions and is pursued by Church officials; William carries a satchel of books toward St. Denis; Jacob is a Jewish healer searching for his parents after his village is attacked. Learning that King Louis plans to burn Jewish texts, the children set out to keep William’s books from the flames.
