The Gift of the Great Buffalo

Rose, a young Métis-Ojibwe girl, travels with her family and hundreds of other Métis families for their biannual buffalo hunt. The hunt has supported the community for generations and must provide enough for the coming six months. But buffalo have become scarce, and after days of searching, no herd appears. Rose wants to be useful and ultimately helps when the animals remain elusive. The historical story centers Indigenous life on the prairie in the late nineteenth century.
