Originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, the family moves between labor camps, picking cotton and strawberries and topping carrots. Their household grows from four people to ten while poverty and instability shape daily life. They also live in fear of immigration authorities, yet face exhausting work and limited comforts together. Francisco Jiménez crossed the border with his family at age four in 1947.
