The Blossoming Summer

At the beginning of World War II, thirteen-year-old Rosemary leaves England with her family and seeks safety at her grandmother’s home near Lake Superior. The unfamiliar place reveals a secret her parents have kept: their family is Anishinaabe and has been passing as white. As Rosemary connects with this hidden part of her heritage, she grows closer to her grandmother. A local boy’s interest in gardening also helps her find beauty in her changed circumstances.
