Stargazing
Jen Wang
Christine’s new neighbor Moon is also Chinese American, but their families and personalities differ sharply. Moon is creative, free-spirited, and has more freedom than Christine, whose parents are strict. The two quickly become friends, although Christine grows jealous when Moon easily connects with other children and betrays her. Moon’s behavior and conflicts with other kids puzzle Christine until a later revelation helps explain some of it. Their friendship must weather anger, jealousy, and the challenges of understanding one another.
