After fainting at a school assembly, Stanley begins drawing a comic-book superhero while spending time in a safe room. He enters a trivia treasure hunt in hopes of winning Comic Fest passes. Stanley, a middle schooler with sensory processing disorder, uses his love of comics to cope with environmental stress. Friends and school staff give him support as he faces the challenges around him, and intermittent black-and-white cartoons appear in the book.
