Sports Stories Baseball Genius (Jeter Publishing series)

A twelve-year-old baseball-loving math whiz wants a place in the major leagues, but his Italian immigrant father cannot afford the fee for a travel team. The boy can predict pitches and is caught taking baseballs from a New York Yankees player he admires. The player offers not to pursue charges if the boy helps him work through a batting slump.
