Snapdragon, known as Snap, has heard that her town has a witch. Jacks is actually an older woman who sells roadkill skeletons online after performing rituals to put the animals’ spirits to rest. Snap thinks Jacks’s work is interesting, and they make an agreement: Jacks will teach Snap to care for rescued baby opossums, while Snap helps with Jacks’s work. As the two get to know one another, Snap discovers that Jacks may possess real magic and may be connected to her family’s past.
