Sir Fig Newton and the Science of Persistence

Biracial Mira tries to solve several problems at once. Her best friend Thomas has moved from Florida to Washington, DC, her father is looking for work and feeling down, and her beloved cat is seriously ill. In response, Mira develops a creative venture to raise money. The story follows her efforts to handle friendship at a distance, family stress, financial uncertainty, and worry about her cat while pursuing a solution she has devised herself.
