She Holds Up the Stars

Twelve-year-old Misko visits her grandmother on the rez and becomes involved in protecting a neighbor’s abused horse. During the visit, she discovers deeper ties to the land and to her Ojibway roots. The novel follows a young Indigenous girl seeking a feeling of home while finding strength and courage through her gifts, her cultural awakening, and her relationship with the land.
