Sharing Our Truths: Tapwe

A family travels to their grandparents in Canada’s Northwest Territories, where they learn about Cree culture. The adults guide the children through cultural activities, storytelling, and shared teachings. The family learns protocols for putting up a tipi, trapping beaver, preparing grandfather stones for a fire, smudging, and gathering salt in Wood Buffalo National Park’s Salt Plains. Color photographs and back matter are included. Tapwe is a Cree word meaning “the truth” or “it is so.”
