Salamander Season

During a cold, rainy spring night, a girl joins her scientist father for Salamander Night. They watch hundreds of spotted salamanders make their way to a vernal pool, where the animals reproduce and lay eggs. Father and daughter also investigate salamander habitat across the animals’ life cycle. Photographs and detailed drawings document the species, its seasonal movement, and the places it uses.
