Prince Among Slaves: The Remarkable True Story of an African Prince Enslaved in Mississippi and His Journey Home

This biography recounts the life of Abdulrahman Ibrahim Ibn Sori, born in 1762 in Futa Jallon, West Africa. He grew into a scholar fluent in five languages, as well as a warrior, husband, father, and leader in his father’s court. After an ambush, he was sold to English traders, transported across the Atlantic, and enslaved in Mississippi. The narrative follows his emancipation and return to West Africa.
