Pretty Funny for a Girl

Fourteen-year-old Haylah wants to become a stand-up comic. She is clever, witty, and funny, but is unsure whether a plus-sized girl belongs onstage when friends put her in the spotlight. Haylah makes jokes about difficult parts of her life, including remarks classmates make about her body, yet she may remain the uncredited writer behind Leo’s comedy sets. The story follows her ambition to perform, her experience of body-related comments, and the question of whether she can claim the stage for herself.
