Our Story Begins: Your Favorite Authors and Illustrators Share Fun, Inspiring, and Occasionally Ridiculous Things They Wrote and Drew as Kids

Twenty-six children’s and young adult authors and illustrators look back on the writing and art they made as children. Their contributions include original examples of early work and reflections on those childhood attempts. The collection gathers different creative beginnings, from drawings to writing, and shows material made before these contributors became established storytellers and artists. One entry recalls a third-grade writing assignment that sparked Jarrett J. Krosoczka’s interest in creating and drawing.
