Nothing Sung and Nothing Spoken

During Nazi rule, Charlie’s queer relationship leaves her afraid of what may happen if it is discovered. That fear puts pressure on her decision about whether to take part in resistance. Charlie also weighs involvement in an underground Swing culture, where personal relationships and the danger of opposing the regime are closely connected. The novel considers queer joy amid the horrors of war.
