Night Wishes
illustrated by Jen Corace, Lee Bennett Hopkins
Night Wishes gathers verses by thirteen poets around a young girl as she falls asleep. The poems imagine bedtime wishes voiced by objects and figures in her bedroom, including a clock, a nightlight, a teddy bear, a blanket, and the moon. These companions surround a dreaming child through the night. Soft gouache illustrations accompany the poems, which use imagined voices to shape the child’s bedroom at bedtime.
