A boy receives a pair of durable shoes from his mother, who is in the United States. Accompanied by his father, he sets out to reach her. Their route takes them through wet weather and muddy ground, across mountains, and over rivers. The boy's shoes remain part of the journey as father and son travel toward their reunion with his mother. The book is presented in both English and Spanish.
