This nonfiction account introduces Tie Sing, a Chinese American trail cook and mountain man. In 1918, he joined a camping trip with thirty lawmakers, who were being encouraged to support national parks. In the wilderness, Tie Sing fed the group for ten days. His work helped inspire the formation of the National Park Service. Pencil-and-watercolor illustrations accompany the historical story.
