Meena and the Microbiome

After rain, Meena joins her scientist mother in the garden and becomes curious about microbes. She notices them in the soil, compost, bodies, and other places around her. As they garden, gather vegetables for a neighbor, eat a snack, and take a bath, Meena asks how these tiny organisms live, what they eat, and where her own microbiome came from. Her mother explains their roles by comparing communities of microbes to a busy city.
