Manjhi Moves a Mountain

Based on a true story, this book tells how Dashrath Manjhi used a hammer and chisel to make a road through a mountain in India. He worked on the route from 1960 to 1982 so that people in his village could reach water, medical care, employment, and schools more easily. The account follows one person’s sustained effort to alter the path between his community and essential services. It includes an author’s note and a “Move Your Own Mountain” section.
