Long Road to the Circus

Set in 1920, the novel follows twelve-year-old Suzy, who wants to leave life on the farm behind. When her uncle returns to the family home but repeatedly avoids his morning chores for unexplained reasons, Suzy decides to investigate. Her hopes of changing her future also involve learning to ride a neighbor’s ostrich. The book includes expressive black-and-white illustrations, archival photographs, and back matter.
