Little Wolf’s First Howling
Laura McGee Kvasnosky
Little Wolf is eager to join Big Wolf outside at night and learn to howl as the moon rises. Big Wolf demonstrates the form he expects, but Little Wolf’s attempts become increasingly energetic and musical rather than conventional. Although Big Wolf initially objects, Little Wolf’s unrestrained sound soon affects him too: he begins to move along with it. The story follows a young wolf finding his own way to participate in a family tradition.
