Leading the Way: Women In Power

Leading the Way offers biographies of more than fifty women in American political history. Its subjects include Jeannette Rankin, who won a congressional seat in 1916 as the first woman to do so; Shirley Chisholm, the first African American woman voters elected to Congress; Sandra Day O’Connor, who became the Supreme Court’s first woman justice; and Bella Abzug. The book considers the actions, struggles, and accomplishments of these political leaders and includes a foreword by Hillary Rodham Clinton.
