Isaiah Dunn Is My Hero
Kelly J. Baptist
After his father dies, ten-year-old Isaiah Dunn lives with his mother and younger sister Charlie in a motel, a situation he keeps from his best friend. His mother is grieving, drinking, and has lost her job. Isaiah finds his father’s notebooks, filled with poems and short stories that imagine Isaiah as a superhero, and begins writing poems himself. As he hopes to help his family find an apartment, Isaiah also forms a friendship with Angel, a classmate who once bullied him.
