Interrupting Chicken: Cookies for Breakfast
David Ezra Stein, illustrated by David Ezra Stein
The little red chicken wants cookies for breakfast and tries to persuade Papa to provide them. While they read nursery rhymes together, the chicken disrupts each one by inserting cookies and herself into the verses. This is the character’s third adventure, built around her hunger for treats and her repeated interruptions of the rhymes. Bright mixed-media illustrations accompany the father-and-child exchange as familiar nursery-rhyme patterns are repeatedly altered by the chicken’s cookie quest.
