In the Role of Brie Hutchens

Thirteen-year-old Brie is an aspiring actor and devoted soap-opera fan with ambitious plans for eighth grade. She wants a leading role in the school play and hopes to persuade her parents to let her attend a performing-arts high school. Brie also knows that she likes girls. When her mother learns this, Brie tells a lie to divert her attention, leaving their relationship uncertain.
