I’ll Go and Come Back
Rajani LaRocca
Jyoti, who lives in America, visits her grandmother Sita Pati in India. At first, India feels so different from home that Jyoti struggles to enjoy the visit, especially when her cousins are at school. Although Jyoti speaks English and her grandmother speaks Tamil, they connect through rangoli designs, games, and warm drinks at bedtime. The following summer, Sita Pati visits America and feels lonely and out of place until she and Jyoti reconnect through familiar activities.
