I'm an American

A classroom of children from varied races, cultures, and backgrounds considers what being American means. Each child shares part of a family history and explains how that past shapes a personal experience of America. Their accounts include newly arrived immigrants, families that came to the country generations earlier, and other circumstances. Together, the children’s histories show a range of cultures and values within the nation’s identity.
