Hummingbird

A picture book follows ruby-throated hummingbirds on their twice-yearly movement between Mexico and Central America and the United States and Canada. Their behavior is woven into the experiences of a Latinx grandmother and her granddaughter, who watch the birds during the girl's visit to New York City. After they are apart, their mutual interest in the hummingbirds remains part of their connection. Brief factual passages on many pages add information about the birds alongside the story.
